New Dawn
broken glass glistens in the morning light
the remains of last nights party
reminder of things half forgotten
my headache tells me to go back to bed
but my clock tells me it is time for work
New Dawn

Run
wake up, get out, run
the marathon is coming
and you aren’t prepared
Acting Up
caused a ruckus today
brought pickles to the work picnic
last year someone choked on a pickle
and nearly died
I’m just the new guy
someone should’a told me
Girl Quest
a young girl leaves home
on a quest for her own independence
questioning God, and purpose
love, sex and connection
making mistakes and getting hurt
all in hopes of finding answers
not accepting what others tell her
she will find her own truth
and make up her own rules
to structure a world of inconsistancies
in a way that makes sense of it all
Get Go
right from the get go
I got up and went
just did every day
did whatever, just did
get go was the secret
get up and go.
Work
coming home from work
another day of labor
exhausted, to bed
Lost in the Woods
first frost
and I am wake up
on a path in the woods
the cold drives me to wake up
and lulls me back to sleep
if I don’t get up now I may never
if I never then I’ll always be lost in the woods
covered with fallen leaves
sleeping in every morning
Arms Up
put your arms up
you little punk
give up or pray
there’s no way out
Teamwork
everyday we lose another
until there isn’t a team left
Stormy Saturday
rain clouds threaten the party
and we all scramble for a dry spot
when the rain comes down this hard
the water reaches for the higher ground
maybe we can build a boat
and sail down the street
the first leg in our round the world cruise
