Week 31, Day 212 – “Run Away”

Run Away

new breeze blows warm air
with the smell of salty sea
asking us to run

Week 31, Day 211 – “2010”

2010

twenty ten
two zero one zero
or is than naught
all for that
all for naught
all for one
and one for naught
just do it
for no reason
whatever
whatever happens
whatever it takes
no stopping until its done
done on earth as it is in heaven
where god talks
to the dead
and they converse about big ideas
ideas with no answers
on earth
filled with water
coming from the sky
the blue sky
made from bending sun light
sunny delight
for breakfast
and maybe some french toast
mmm, mmm, good

Week 30, Day 210 – “Sad Movies”

Sad Movies

sad movies always make me cry,
but reality never does
don’t know why that is
maybe i’m a bad person
or maybe
that’s just the way i’m built
a little different from everyone else

Week 30, Day 209 – “Yes, I am”

Yes, I am

are you coming to say goodbye?
to see me off at the airport?
to wish me well in my new endeavor?
I am going on, moving forward,
but I will miss you
and remember you

Week 30, Day 208 – “Ear Ache”

Ear Ache

woke to a bad day
ears crackle and dizzy head
can’t think straight

Week 30, Day 207 – “Green”

Green

what do children of the desert
think of environmentalism?
they’ve never seen a forest
never sat in the shade
of their favorite oak tree
and read poetry
or rolled down grassy hills
or wadded in a shallow stream

what do you tell these children
when they ask you why?
why care about green
when their whole lives are white
white walls, sky and sand
warmed to unreasonable degrees

save the earth kids
so i can enjoy the great outdoors
at home.

Week 30, Day 206 – “Burdens of Life”

Burdens of Life

food and a place to live
respect, purpose and love
all needed but right now
my life’s a complete mess

Week 30, Day 205 – “In Between”

In Between

caught between here and the next
souls of the recently dead
looking for some direction
there seems to be no way back
and an unknown path forward
its here in the in between
that everything falls apart

Week 30, Day 204 – “Halloween”

Halloween

when the fall air chills your bones
and the crimson leave smolder
pretend you are someone else
and scare the demons away
and i’ll give you some candy
a caramel covered apple
and all my love forever

Week 29, Day 203 – “No More”

No More

indebted no more
free from the string
of owing a part of me
to an institution

now i can leap
and jump and run
to any place i want
and sing
