After All This
everyday I push you away
and you still ask how I am doing
I never return your calls
or pleasantries
I run when I see you in the hall
I hide from you
I mock you
and yet still
after all this
you want to be my friend.
I Call You A Liar
hello mother
you promised me a good life
but all has not gone as you told me
worked hard
and kept a good attitude
was nice to everyone I came across
but they back stabbed me
and moved on (and up)
while I sit here (no where)
and rachael
you said we could work it out
if we just tried
i went to shrinks
and meetings
and tried to listen more (better)
but what i heard was shit
and that is where we are now
i hate you more than ever
and you hate me too
talking just made it worse
brought the hatred out
and god
if I put my faith in you
i would be blessed
well
i don’t feel blessed
i am lonely
alone
and no good news coming
i call you a liar
all of you
all of you, who got my hopes up
and disappointed
I Gotta Pee
I gotta pee
I gotta pee real bad
I’ll be right back after I pee
yeah that’s better
Good Luck
deuces wild
geese’s child
your in luck
you wacky duck
the dice are rolling
so let’s go bowling
and have a drink
’cause man you stink
and I need to be drunk
to put up with this punk
Aurora
the dawn of my life
and light of the northern sky
once danced together
Chicago
the city made itself my home
forced me to love it
a new neighborhood every night
I was a player
comedy, art, music, the cubs
pizza and hot dogs
beach, water front, and downtown parks
connected subways
obama went off to dc
and he changed the world
Campus Town
went off to college
and had fun, fun, fun
’til my daddy took the keyboard away
damn keyboards
and what the hell is this internet thing
mosaic and I type what again
magic the gathering and screwdrivers
I worked fast food
on every block of green st.
’til I found my will
my salvation from the king of burgers
so I worked in a TV set
and in chambers
recording whatever I saw or heard
it was a start of something
that took me to where I am now
which was not where I was heading
when I moved to campus town
but who wants to be a physics geek anyway
Urbana
the second city of the two U of I cities
smaller, slower to move
but a hippy hangout too
pot and house parties
and a rooming house
with 14 different freaks
man, I miss those people
the ways of Urbana are different
not less better, but different
I enjoyed darts at the Embassy
and music at the Iron Post
a library that felt like a library should
and brick roads with tree lined streets
all fun, and neat and sweet corn festivals
and farmers markets
in a dead mall parking lot
and the station where I was booked
and the courthouse where I paid
the fine for saying fuck the man
and losing
to many first, some good and some better
Champaign
party half of the two cities
divided by the U
Champaign was my home for years
and some days I miss it
live music most every night
sometimes hard to pick the go to show
outdoor dinner downtown
or maybe some thin crust and pool
many friends made and still remembered
always a new crop yearly in a university town
good friends, good food and good music
what more is there?
