Excuses
My apologies for not writing sooner,
but, you see, my cat ate my poems.
She must have been hungry,
I can’t think of any other reason.
I bet they were delicious.
There were some real good ones in the bunch.
Maybe even prize winners.
Such a shame.
What’s that you say, I don’t own a cat, I don’t even like cats?
Well, now you know why.
